Introduction

At the second Phaseomics meeting held May 2002 in Geneva, Switzerland, several workgroups were set up to organize and highlight the different resources available to support Phaseolus genomics.

Why this web site?

Our objective is to present a quick and handy overview of resources that may be of interest to those involved in bean genomics. Among these resources we include principally plant resources (gene banks, genetic stocks collection) and DNA libraries (genomic libraries). The list will be updated as needed.

Resources

Genetic resources collections:

CIAT, Cali, Colombia: Genetic Resources Unit: the main Phaseolus collection, in trust from FAO;

to consult holdings (and order germplasm accessions, contact the CIAT URG database (you will need to register first)

USDA collection: Western Plant Introduction Station, Pullman, WA, USA: to consult holdings, contact the GRIN database; to request germplasm, go to this page

Recombinant inbred and backcross populations:

at least 15: for availability, check with the respective originators
list of populations

P. Gepts's group: a description of the first three libraries will appear in the 2003 BIC Annual Report; libraries will be made available in the coming months via Clemson or Arizona
